marylou0Overviewmarylou0 is an SGI Origin supplied with 128 MIPS processors. The Origin uses SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) architecture allowing for simultaneous access to all 128 processors and 64 GB of RAM at once. Environmentmarylou0 runs the IRIX operating system, version 6.5, with standard Unix shells, scripting languages, compilers and utilities. SGI provided compilers include mpi as well as auto parallelizing options. Accessmarylou0 is accessed exclusively using the SSH (version 2) protocol. This applies to both interactive shell access and external file transfer (using the SSH scp and sftp utilities). SSH clients are available for nearly all computing platforms. Windows versions of the client can be downloaded from The PuTTY download page and ssh.com. The address to use for SSH connections is marylou0.byu.edu. This is available from both on- and off-campus. Batch Jobsmarylou0 is a batch only system. All jobs must be submitted through the PBS batch system. Logins to marylou0 should be for simple shell commands, file editing, and batch submission commands. Jobs started without PBS commands will be killed! For PBS information, please visit our PBS page. Disk SpaceThere is a large scratch space on the system in /fslhome/username/compute. Users can create folders in this directory for their scratch and large processing needs. Only results and permanent data should be stored in the users home directory. The /fslhome/username/compute directory is NOT backed up. Home directories are backed up.
